Odyssey Wreck

Odyssey Wreck, a 300ft long and 50ft wide cargo ship, is known as Roatan's largest underwater wreck. This cargo ship was intentionally sunk in November 2002. The bow of the wreck is sitting at an angle of almost 90 degrees, while the superstructure of the stern is sitting at a 30 degree angle, which makes swimming through quite interesting. With stern's many levels of railings and stairways, there are countless opportunities for exploration. Unfortunately, the center section has collapsed from the powerful surge of several cold fronts.

El Aguila Wreck

The most popular wreck dive off the coast of Roatan is without question El Aguila (The Eagle) and it is easy to see why. El Aguila was a 220 foot cargo ship that originally sunk off the coast of Utila. Due to growing diver interest in wrecks, the choice was made to bring El Aguila up and re-sink her right off the coast of Roatan as part of the artificial reef program in 1998. Everything went smoothly and she was positioned close to the reef at about 100 feet. However, a couple of weeks later, Hurricane Mitch came along and broke El Aguila into three distinct pieces and that is how she remains today. As a result, El Aguila now lies as if it were an actual wrecked ship..

Mary's Place

Mary's Place is located on the south side of the island between the towns of Coxen Hole and French Harbour.
Two large crevices cut through the reef. The sheer sides of crevice are lined with large fans of black coral, banded shrimp, gobies, and encrusting sponges. Tightly grouped schools of twirling silversides often darken the passageway.

FUN DIVES

Recreational dive sites range in depth from 10 meters to 40 meters and are mainly coral gardens, coral ridges and walls. All sites are accessible within 10 to 15 minutes by boat; allowing more dives each day. With plenty of dive sites to choose from, I choose the best and safest sites to dive each day, based on conditions and visibility.
